For us Canadian, depending on your bank (I have RBC), it might be difficult to buy crypto or be limited on what you’re able to purchase. This guide will only include the process of trading and how to get started in crypto world. You will have to do your own research about different types of crypto currencies.

What you need to have:

Wallet — there’s a bunch of different wallets available to everyone but I would recommend Exodus. It is a good wallet for beginners, very straight forward and user friendly. I have it synced on my phone and pc. The other option is a hardware/ledger, but since this is more catered for beginners, I would not suggest that at the moment.

Crypto Exchange Market — I am going to be listing bunch of different exchange markets. I use all of these as some exchange offers different types of Altcoin.

  1. Coinbase (We both get 10$ when you trade over 100$) — Very user friendly, easy to trade (buy, sell, convert). I highly recommend this if you’re just starting. Unfortunately, RBC does not allow me to buy anything from this app. The only reason I still have this is because of the rewards, all you must do is watch short videos and do the quizzes, rewards range from 6$ — 50$. The short videos are very educational as they explain a bit about the alt coin you are getting. If you’re with TD Bank I highly recommend using this (my girlfriend’s with TD and I’ve been envious ever since we started are venture on crypto).
  2. Shakepay (We both get 30$ when you trade over 100$) — This is where I bought my first crypto, they accept E-Transfer (rejoice RBC people). Shakepay does not charge any direct fees to their customers for buy orders, sell orders, deposits, or withdrawals. They only offer BTC(Bitcoin) and ETH(Ethereum). So, if you plan on buying other alt coin, you’ll have to convert it somewhere else. **Btw you can earn some bitcoin by just literally shaking your phone every day, you will have to sign up with my referral link or someone else’s link to get it. We both get 30$ when you trade over 100$.
  3. Newton (We both get 25$ when you trade over 100$) — Same as Shakepay, but with a lower spread (you can just google what it means). They also have more options (XRP, XLM, LTC, BCH, USDC, XMR, USDT). This is where I got my XLM and XRP. So far, my favorite.
  4. Binance — Can be a bit overwhelming for beginners, although they have the lite version that’s a lot simpler. I got my dogecoin here. I bought BTC from Shakepay, then transferred it to Binance, then bought dogecoin with that.

Some things worth mentioning *mostly personal opinion, so you don’t have to follow me on this one.

  1. I ALWAYS move whatever I purchase to my wallet.
  2. Do your research, learn their projects and what the coin your investing is for. You’ll see some pump and dump from time to time so make sure you do your research.
  3. I’m not an expert or anything, I’m still learning, but so far this is what I’ve learned and discovered. Hopefully this helps you in your venture to crypto world.
